Pup & Up Gun Dog Program

Pup & Up is our 5-month gun dog board and train in Decatur, Texas. It replaces our former started gun dog program. A pup enters at 4 to 8 months old and works through obedience, conditioned retrieve, water, gun introduction, and bird work.

Your gun dog is not a gun dog twelve months of the year. The program also covers obedience under real-life distraction, so the dog you hunt over in the fall is a dog you can live with the rest of the year.

What your dog learns

• Obedience and control: come, sit, down, heel on and off leash, place, dead or drop, send away to place, directional commands, stop in motion
• Recall and retrieve: force fetch, hold, controlled fetch, single and double retrieves, blind retrieves, delivery to hand
• Field, water and gun: water entry and exit, introduction to the gun with a minimum of 100 shots, marks thrown from multiple directions, frozen and live birds, human and machine throwers

We train retrieving dogs for dove, duck, geese, and pheasant on 7,000 acres of leased Texas land.

Trainer levels

Both trainer levels follow the same High Boot K9 training standards and core curriculum. The difference is the trainer you choose to personally develop and work your dog throughout the program.

Garmin Sport Pro e-collar, Garmin Alpha LTE tracking collar, Rader slip lead, Cato board, Hoss strap, Gunner kennel, neoprene vest for waterfowl dogs, booties for upland dogs, lifetime tune-ups.
